Next Week’s Supermoon Will Be It’s Biggest In Over 80 Years And Here Is How To Photograph It In Dubai

Avatar

We’re about to witness something that, most of us, have never seen before! The biggest ‘Supermoon’ since 1948 will be visible all over the world. A supermoon occurs when the moon is the closest to the Earth in it’s elliptical orbit – so if you’re planning a trip to the moon, your travel time could be at it’s shortest. The once-in-a-lifetime occurrence will happen on the 14th of November and, according to CNN, the best time to view it is 6:52pm. As Dubai is looking straight towards it’s nighttime killer skyline in the evening, London will be looking at the moon in the afternoon whereas Los Angeles will see it in the early morning! It’ll be the largest moon in an 86 year period which is pretty cool. In the meantime, here are our top tips for getting the most out of your smartphone when taking pictures of the moon.

1. Apps

There are third-party apps you can download such as ‘Night Modes’ or ‘Nightcap.’

3. Shutter speed and ISO

Hold your iPhone up to a bright light and read the on-screen exposure settings. Set your exposure at around ISO 50 and shutter speed between 1/250 and 1/750. The moon will be at it’s brightest so it’s important not to go over the top with exposure!

4. Steady on!

If you’re not a professional and don’t own a tripod, rest your elbows on something or hold your phone close to your body to get the most steady shot as you can. If you’re still not getting the photograph that you want, rest your phone on something and tap when you’re ready!
