The UAE Women’s Football Team Are Kicking Some Serious Ass Ahead Of The 2019 FIFA World Cup

Move over, Ronaldo, you’ve got some serious competition and they come wearing ponytails. The UAE women’s football team are fiercely taking over the football pitch as they await the beginning of their first-ever qualifying campaign for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup which will take place next year in Jordan, where five berths for the FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019™ will be up for grabs. The team entered in the WAFF Women’s Championship in 2010 where they took home the title – a victory they then repeated the following year.

The club has been running for several years and was inspired by Noura Al-Mazrouei’s love of the European leagues.

“I remember when we were just a small group of girls with dreams of kicking a ball around, but we’ve worked hard and learned a lot,” Al-Mazrouei said. “We have an exceptional squad. Over the past few years, we’ve really moved on to a different level, thanks to some great work by those responsible for women’s football in the Emirates. All of the players are enthusiastic about the challenge that lies ahead, and want to come back home with a slot at the Asian Cup in the bag.”

Vice-chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Honorary Chairman of the UAE Football Association, Sheikh Hazza Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has continued to support the team.
