It’s arguably one of the most ‘Dubai’ things to do, but it seems like it’s the end of an era for radar ‘cheating.’ Motorists who slow down towards speed cameras and then speed up after they have passed them may be experiencing the end of an era. The Dubai Traffic Department are ready to implement radars that calculate the average speed of drivers. The ‘Al Burj’ radar cameras monitor the speed upon entering and exiting the sector, they then calculate the average to determine your speed. Director of the traffic department, Colonel Al Mazroui has said that all cameras on highways and internal roads alike will be adjusted to using this method. The new radars do not necessarily flash, so motorists who are prone to speeding, be prepared for quite an expensive text message!
