A Throwback Photo Of Old Dubai Shared On Facebook Has Gotten Residents In Their Nostalgic Feels
People love the new Dubai, with all its high-rise towers, beaches and all its glitz and glam.
But none can argue the beauty and wave of emotions that hit whenever peeps find themselves in old Dubai. Areas like Deira, Karama and Jaffiliya all bear the nostalgic remnants of the city in the ’90s and early 2000s- and it’s definitely not overlooked.
People who have lived in Dubai for ages know what it’s like to miss parts of the old Dubai, hence the creation of a Facebook group called, “I Grew Up In Dubai”, where they’ve all shared photos and videos that will definitely bring back all the nostalgia.
One such example of the MAJOR nostalgia people felt is with this old photo of the Naif police station
According to one of the members of the FB group, this photo of the police station dates all the way back to 1959- after its first restoration.
If you look at how the Naif police station looks now, you’ll realise they’ve maintained a similar physical structure- except added with a few modern flairs.
A trip to Souk Naif this weekend, anybody?

THAT difference though!
People couldn’t help but express memories of old Dubai
“It’s all too fast. How I miss it…”
The group has even shared cool videos of the city from the ’90s, where you truly get to see how simply life was lived
Posts like peoples’ favorite baqalas (supermarkets), streets, snacks and chocolate brands like Gandour or ice pops even makes people who’ve never lived in old Dubai- feel incredibly sentimental.
Check it out over here.
