Here is a shout out to Next Generation Jazz Orchestra Alum – Sammy Miller! Drummer and composer Sammy Miller has assembled a Congregation of musicians to play with him at Kuumbwa Jazz Center on November 8th! “I’m very interested in this idea of the circus and tent show coming into town and gathering people together in a place, and the visceral quality of a single night,” says Miller, who pulls into the Bay Area for a series of gigs, playing Santa Cruz’s Kuumbwa on Nov. 8, UC Davis’ Mondavi Center on Nov. 9 and SFJazz’s Joe Henderson Lab on Nov. 10-11. “Especially now when the expectation is that your music has to be understandable in tiny digital form. I want to go the other way, creating something larger than life, a real ephemeral and one-time thing.” . . . #sammymillerandthecongregation #nextgenjazz #kuumbwajazz #montereyjazz
