5 Hacks For Getting A Regram On The MyDubai Account

Avatar

For any Dubai resident on Instagram, getting regrammed by the MyDubai account is pretty much the goal.

The account has 740,000 followers and the hashtag has well over 20 million posts.

It’s not easy to get a cheeky regram on the coveted account, but there are some tricks you can do to give yourself a better chance of getting that Instagram accolade.

1. Have a person in the shot

Preferably in the foreground, but not a selfie – MyDubai tells the story of people in Dubai, so it’s best you have people or a person in the shot.

2. Have a significant Dubai landmark in the picture

It doesn’t have to be one of the Burjs, but it should show something recognisable of Dubai, whether that’s one of the towers, a hotel, the cultural districts, something to show that you are, in fact, in Dubai.

3. Have something a bit different

Okay, we all love a shot of the Burj Khalifa towering up into the sky, but think how many photos there are of just that.

MyDubai is about showing all the different aspects of the city, so try getting off the beaten track and mix it up with photos .

4. It’s all about quality

All MyDubai photos are clear, crisp and well-composed. You want to take the time to get just the right shot, and the best angle.

And give your lens a wipe down at the very least.

5. Think of the timeliness

Showcasing the best bits of Dubai, there are new installations and events happening every day in the city.

It’s great to show off what’s going on – like 3D Canvas last week.

This goes in hand with point 3 of having different locations – beautiful venues like D3, City Walk JBR the Beach and Last Exit are relatively new and great for a colourful and interesting shot – plus they host cool events and pop-ups.
