We've Got That Thursday Feeling - 5 Things To Tick Off Your List This Weekend

It's been a long week.

If you're anything like us, you can't wait for the weekend (but never start planning it properly until Thursday evening). Even then, you're mind is probably dwelling on that Friday morning lie-in you've been looking forward to all week.

Luckily, being the thoughtful people we are, we've made a short list of Dubai's best events for you - so you don't have to think about it. If you stick to our list, you'll be a little more cultured, a bit fitter and a recipe master come Sunday morning.

1. Get fancy and attend a ballet... with a twist

That's right, Swan Lake is coming to Dubai this weekend (Friday 4th). Before you scoff at the idea of attending the ballet on your day off, it's important to know that this is no ordinary Swan Lake performance. In fact, it's being conducted by the high-flying, double-jointed Chinese Acrobatic Circus. We promise it'll leave you asking: "how is that even possible?!"

2. Prepare for Dubai Electric Run with a jog on JBR

Despite the humidity and sand storms, we promise winter is just around the corner. To get your body back in shape for beach season, get signed up for the near-sellout Dubai Electric Run - a quirky, ultra-luminous 5k taking place on November 6th - and start training. Where better than JBR? You can even pop into The Surf Café for a bite to eat when you're done.

3. Get your chef's hat on and make some guilt-free pizza

You may not know this, but Saturday 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day (we've been looking forward to it all year). If you fancy playing chef, you can check out a whole load of healthy recipes that we've put together here. If you're not the cooking type, cut out the middle man and get yourself down to Pi.Dubai, the newly-opened restaurant from the founders of The Pizza Guys.

4. Embrace your inner child at Box Park's LEGO workshop

This weekend is your last chance to embrace your inner child and explore the appropriately named 'Blocks Park at Box Park'. Open from noon to 10pm until 5th September, the "shop and play" workshop area is all about getting stuck in and letting your imagination run wild. Perfect for children - and, who are we kidding, adults too - it's not one to miss.

5. Party with DJ Mel DeBarge at VIP Room

If you're looking for a slightly livelier weekend, get yourself down to VIP Room tonight from 11pm and get grooving to a one-off set by New York City's most vogue DJ, Mel DeBarge. Having hit the decks at private parties for the likes of Giorgio Armani, Jennifer Lopez, Missy Elliot and a string of other A-listers, it's sure to add a little glamour to your day.
