5 Awesome UAE-Based Women Who Inspire Us Every Day

It's International Women's Day today, and so it got us thinking about women we admire, respect and look up to.

There are so many women here doing excellent things, and it's being highlighted around the city with events.

 HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai tweeted last night, supporting women of the emirates. 

Get Involved 

The Crowne Plaza on Sheikh Zayed Road is hosting an art event tonight titled 'Be Bold For Change' and will feature 20 talented female artists' work. 

 It's in collaboration with art initiative, Zee Arts and you can see the works of art in The Cafe on the Crowne Plaza Dubai's ground floor.

Judy Shinnick will be exhibiting some of her beautiful art

HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, Chairperson of the International Humanitarian City 

We couldn't possibly write a list like this and not lead with the wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

HRH Princess Haya has really come into the spotlight in the past 12 months with her charity missions, her electrifying speeches, and her beautiful words on social media.

Dr Aisha Bin Bishr, director general - Dubai Smart Office 

Dr Aisha is spearheading Dubai's Smart City initiatives and regularly appears at industry events. She's ultra-switched on, powerful and accomplished. 

Lina Nahaas, founder of The Sameness Project

Lina founded The Sameness Project which is about connecting people in a city where residents tend to gravitate towards similar cultural groups. 

She works to get people conversing, who are from different backgrounds.

Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty

A beauty entreprenuer and the region's biggest Instagram-personality, Huda Kattan, aka Huda Beauty was a self-starter and began her beauty business working from home developing lashes. 

Dr Shayma Al Fawwaz, Mubadala and Gossip Cafe & Desserts

A genetic scientist and the vice president of healthcare at Mubadala, Dr Shayma studied her PhD in the United States, before coming back to her native UAE to work. 

She always had a love of cooking and sharing food, and so decided to open Gossip Cafe and Desserts. 

Gossip works with local charitable initiatives including selling Dumye dolls.
