6 Times We’re Extremely Glad We’re Not Extreme Stunt Performers

Avatar

Jet Man redefined the limits of crazy stuntage yesterday when, along with Emirates and X Dubai, they released a video of Jet Man (Yves Rossy) and his protege Vincent Reffet flying along next to an Emirates A380 using jet packs…which were invented by Yves himself.

It is unbelievably cool video which has racked up nearly 3 million views in 24 hours. Is it the craziest stunt that has ever been performed in Dubai? It’s certainly up there with the greats we’ve listed below.

After checking out some of the top contenders we’ve learned two things; 1. Some people are mental…and 2. We’ve never been happier not to be extreme stunts performers. Here are the reasons why…

1. Because Skipping Stones Would Take On A Whole New Meaning

Russian parkour stuntman Oleg Sherstyachenko’s defies the odds pulling this stunt off. I don’t know about you but we get vertigo just watching this one! This video took place last May above the Sofitel.

2. When All Your Friends Are Doing The Same Jump

Oh sure it would be nice to be part of a big group of friends…but imagine the peer pressure if they were all doing the same jump!

Another daring stunt brought to you by X Dubai, (these guys are seriously testing Dubai’s limits) this time the aim was to execute 558 base jumps from the Princess Tower in the Marina (that’s the second largest residential structure in the world). Fair play to the guy who did a hand stand prior to jumping off.

3. When Your Visiting Friend Wants To Go To The Burj Khalifa

This is a taking a visit to the Burj to a whole new level….one that we could do well without!

One half of Jet Man took part in this jump and it’s safe to say he must have nerves of absolute steel. This has racked up over 11 million views on You Tube, and firmly stamped the Burj on the map as the ultimate base jump spot in the world.

4. When We Prefer Chilling Out On The Groud Floor

He might be totally relaxed at these heights but we know right well we wouldn’t stay so calm. We’re happy to take pictures from down below though!

Watch James Kingston walk along one of the tallest buildings in Dubai Marina. Using no harness he walks incredibly casually for such a height. Skip to 1.10 for the really scary shot.

5. When A Climbing Wall Would Do US

Sometimes people aren’t satisified with the norm and ‘Spiderman’ Alain Robert is clearly one of them. Watch him scale the twisty tower in the Marina using ONLY chalk and sticky tape on his fingers to get to the top of 75 floors! (The stunt he pulled scaling the Burj Khalifa using a harness must not have been dare devil enough). This is pretty crazy, we NEARLY couldn’t watch to the end of this one.

6. When Your Friend Wants To Take It One Step Further

This video took Dubai (and the rest of the world) by storm yesterday. Watch Jet Man Yves Rossy and his protege Vincent Reffet soar along next to a massive Emirates plane using a jet pack which uses carbon-fiber wings for flight. This takes dare devil to a whole new level and although they’re great to watch we’re just glad our feet are firmly on the ground.
