7 Reasons Why Working Public Holidays Is Really Not That Bad

Avatar

There are always a few people that aren’t as lucky as some, they’re the ones stuck in the office, still in Dubai during the long weekends while others jet-set around the world.

But it’s not all bad.

We at Lovin HQ work the public holidays, and many do in retail, customer service and we’re here to tell you – it’s actually quite nice.

Here’s why.

1. The roads are empty

You never knew you could make it to the office in less than 20 minutes! How nice it is, driving to work without that congestion on Hessa Street costing you an extra 30 minutes on your way to the office.

2. Free and accessible parking

The rare few days where you don’t struggle to find a carpark AND it’s free parking anyway! What a beautiful start to the day.

3. A quiet office

Without the natter of your colleagues, you’ll actually get quite a bit of work done. There are less distractions in the office, it’s easier to focus and you will find you get a lot more finished in a shorter amount of time.

4. Cheaper flights

You’ve banked your time in lieu, and you can take it whenever you please.

Forget those staggering flight prices for the long weekends, you’ll have your flights at half that price, later. Thanks.

5. The casual dress-code

Even the boss empathises with the public-holiday workers so you can shun the suit and tie, heels and corporate attire, and opt for something a little more comfortable. Way more chill.

Okay, maybe not this chill….

6. The phone rings far less

Less/no calls from clients or contacts because they’re all off on holidays – it’s the quiet you’ve been praying for so you can get stuck into those bigger tasks finally.

7. The sympathy

Woe is you, working a public holiday. It’s always fun to moan, particularly to people about working the holiday.

Milk it now, and then you can rub it in everyone’s faces later when you’re the one jet-setting on your time in lieu with those cheap flights.
