7 Ways For University Students To Secure An Internship In Dubai

Avatar

Dubai is a fast-developing city, especially in the Arab region, and with that comes a lot of companies (from startups to the big guys) all trying to secure a spot in the dessert.

Having an internship in Dubai will help you gain wide experience in the field of your choosing, as well as further strengthen your capabilities in the working world.

Here is a list of 7 ways to secure an internship in Dubai:

1. Make sure your CV has been proofread more than once

The key to a good CV is great grammar and spelling. This website helps make it easier if you’re unsure. Try not to be too emotive when listing your achievements and accomplishments too.

2. Write your cover letter

We understand it may get a little redundant, especially when applying to a variety of different places. But trust us, you have higher chances of securing acceptances when a cover letter addresses the company and entails the impact you will leave with them.

3. Video resumes are the new thing

IntermsMe has recently introduced the concept of video resumes in Dubai. It’s great because employers won’t get bored, they get to see the more active and spoken side of you plus you get to expand on things not mentioned on your CV.

4. Look for jobs online (be consistent)

Indeed, Visage, Bait.com, InternsMe and Laimoon. There’s a probably a bunch more out there we haven’t heard of but these ones are sure to get you off the hook.

5. Network, network, network

Make use of your university’s functions, or Dubai’s main events (whatever it may be). You really never know who you might run into. It’s always best to have a business card ready, even as a student.

6. Send out your application on time!

Meet the deadline, or send it right before. There’s way too much competition in the city to let opportunities pass.

7. Find your confidence and bring it with you to the interview

Learn about your strengths, focus on what you can do and what you’d like to improve on. Your answers for the interview don’t have to be phony, just be you.
