A 15-Year-Old Emirati Has Launched Her First Experiment Into Space Thanks To A NASA Competition
Alia Al Mansoori, a 15-year old Emirati female, had her science project launched into space by NASA today, as part of a Genes in Space competition.
Whilst being a full-time student at Al Mawakeb School, Alia entered the competition, where the challenge was to create an experiment that could apply DNA analysis to real-life situations during space explorations and today, she saw it launched from the United States.
Out of 110 entries, Alia was chosen as the winner for her innovative ideas and creativity.
The experiment she had created was aimed at studying how space exposure affects the health of live organisms at the cellular level.
From there onwards, Alia was set to experience life-changing events.
Firstly, she got to meet HH Mohammed bin Zayed Nahyan
As he congratulated her for becoming the winner of the competition.
And today, her experiment was launched
Going all the way to the USA, Alia was lucky enough to watch her own experiment be launched into space.
