This Is Everything You Need To Know About The New Route 2020 Metro Link
This week a delegation from the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) were in France viewing carriages for the new 15km Route 2020 Metro link.
Alstom, a global transport company based in France, has been charged with the design and build of the new carriages which will retain a similar outward design from the original carriages we see in Dubai today, however there will be some modern adjustments.
The route will extend from the Red Line of Dubai Metro from Nakheel Harbour and Tower station all the way to the Expo 2020 site near the Al Maktoum International Airport, and it includes seven stations in total.
The following areas will be served by the new route…
The Gardens
Discovery Gardens
Al Furjan
Jumeirah Golf Estate
Dubai Investment Park
The new trainsets are 88 metres long with five cars per set
Each set can hold up to 700 passengers and the eco-friendly trains will cover a 15k route including a 3.2 km underground track.
The line is expected to be ready for use in time for Expo 2020.
