62 Schools In Dubai Are Getting In On The Fun This Diwali With Holidays And Celebrations
It’s that time of the year again when you drive past the streets of Dubai and notice every second home beautifully lit up with fairy lights adding a festive vibe to the city.
That’s because, this month thousands of Indians residing in the UAE will be celebrating the BIGGEST ever Hindu festival Deepavali (Diwali) the festival of lights on Sunday, October 27 and this year around schools will be in on all the fun as well.
The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), has announced that as many as 62 Indian schools will be granted a long weekend (that means Sunday off… yaay) so that students can celebrate the auspicious day with their friends and families.
Likewise, other schools will be given a half-day off and the remaining will invite students and faculty to wear traditional attires to celebrate on campus.
The five-day-long Indian festival aims to teach generations about good triumphing over evil and the importance of being generous
On Thursday, schools and workplaces, across Dubai had already put together adorable decors and events to celebrate the festival.

List of schools confirmed to be having a long weekend for Diwali:
- Cambridge International School, Dubai
- Gems Our Own English High School, Dubai
- Gems Our Own English High School, Sharjah
- Gems Millenium School, Sharjah
- The Millenium School in Al Qusais – will reopen on Tuesday
Students at, Gems Dubai American Academy, will be having a half-day on Sunday.
Parents are advised to ring up the school to confirm on the holidays or timings if they haven’t already received an email or text message notifying them of so.
Schools and workplaces on Thursday, saw individuals from various backgrounds and religions come together to celebrate the occasion of Diwali
Sweets were distributed and rangolis were created by mums and faculty members from all walks of life.
