The Gloves Are OFF: A Cheeky Resident Price Compared Dubai’s Top Food Delivery Apps
Takeouts make Dubai go round…
Seriously it’s a city with a bustling food delivery trade, where you’ll meet people ordering breakfast, lunch and dinner via food delivery apps.
And EVERYONE’s got a fave app; depending on whether you value price, quality or speed more.
One resident has called out the price difference between the apps, and the difference in ITEM price will shock you
Follow the chili minced meat and cheese fatayer and notice the price change
⚡️ Ordering dinner tonight turned into a food platform price comparison exercise.@Deliveroo vs @UberEats vs @Zomato vs @roundmenu

He rated Deliveroo, Uber Eats, Zomato and Round Menu
Ordering from the same spot, he chose the same six items on each app.
Deliveroo charged AED161 for the total order
Next, Uber Eats at AED159
Zomato comes in at AED135
Finally, Round Menu at AED146
BOOM! Zomato comes in as the cheapest, but residents were quick to express shock at the difference in menu item prices
‘Item prices should be fixed’
This is bad. I didnt know. Item prices should be fixed

Do apps get commissions based on platforms?
Nah. We’re not there yet. Higher pricing to compensate for platform commissions IMO.

Or possibly a wider audience lowers the price
Feels like bigger user base linked to lower prices for @ZomatoUAE

…maybe it makes sense
Why? Airline tickets, hotel rooms etc aren’t.
If food orders are slow, they should drop prices and vice versa as long as buyer agrees to the prices.— Ram (@RamPillai) August 6, 2018
Zomato is the cheapest, but Deliveroo always wins on speed
Heh. Money saved, is money earned!
I haven’t benchmarked them against each other (yet), but I agree that @Deliveroo_ae would probably win regularly in terms of outright speed

This tweeter values the speed of Deliveroo
Useful bit of info. @Deliveroo_ae would get my order though only because of speed of delivery. Worth the extra cost in my opinion
