Avatar

Oh hello August.

The weather is going to be hot as ever this month, but we’ve lined up some pretty cool stuff happening around town. From an Olympic-inspired meal to mixology classes and everything in between, this August won’t be as bad as you think.

1. It’s mango mania at Markette

The cosy outlet is celebrating mango season with a festival dedicated to the fruit. Quite often referred to as the ‘king of fruits’, the juicy stone fruit will make an appearance in menu items such as the traditional yoghurt-based lassi, in shakes, as well as in crepes and mousse.

Prices start from AED 28; until 31 August; available at Markette at The Dubai Mall and BOXPARK; for more information, call: 04 339 8173

2. Give into the ultimate summer pampering at Tips & Toes

This is perhaps the mother of all mani-pedis in town. The limited edition Soothing Summer Cocoon treatment starts off with the cutting and shaping of nails before exfoliating your hands and feet with a sugar scrub, followed by a detoxifying and regenerating mud wrap. In the final step, the technician will slather on deep moisturising lotion. The result: baby soft hands and feet.

Priced at AED 205; until 31 August; available at all Tips & Toes branches; for more information, call: 04 399 0550

3. Head to McGettigan’s for a round (or more) of beverages with mates

The deal is pretty straightforward. For AED 199 you’re served unlimited house beverages from 5pm to 8pm, making it an ideal way to continue the party after brunch or perhaps even to kick-start your Friday night. Background tunes will be provided by The Maplejacks.

Priced at AED 199 per person; available every Friday from 5pm to 8pm at McGettigan’s JLT (Cluster J); for more information, call 04 378 0800
