The First Ever Arabic Original Netflix Series Has Scored Only A 3.3 Rating On IMDB

Everyone has a subconscious personal IMDB score.

Personally, if it’s under 7.0, I’m not watching it. (Unless, I’m really bored and it’s a high six).

So it’s disappointing to see the first ever Arabic original Netflix has just a 3.3 rating, days after its release, a score which will easily turn-off potential viewers.

‘Jinn’ released to much controversy last week. A teen drama set in Jordan, using a Jordanian cast and speaking in Jordanian dialects, authorities are investigating the show amid fears it doesn’t reflect the moral integrity of the region along with calls from local Twitter for its removal.

So it’s worth a thought… have the Twitterati voiced their concerns via the IMDB scoring system, or it is truly an awful show?

A Dubai resident noticed the abysmal rating

Twitter is divided

Authorities have slammed the show, the Royal Jordanian Film Commission has distanced itself and there are calls on Twitter for it to be removed, while other social commentators are simply appreciating a new show featuring young Arab actors representing for the region.

All aside, is it actually any good? This Twitter thread gives an honest account of what the show is like

Cheesy, but good

A healthy debated raged on another thread, where one commentator reckons it paints an accurate picture

… Filled with suspense

And another reckons the entire show is a mixed bag with pros and cons

The cast are young Jordanians, this was their first stepping stone into TV drama… bare that in mind when you post negative comments
