A Resident Is Trying To Turn The Ramadan Fridge Sharing Idea Into A Year Long Giving Project

A small bit of background: An initiative set up during Ramadan each year has become something Dubai residents can be proud of.

The Ramadan Sharing Fridges sparked an online call to action and lead to food sharing fridges popping up all over Dubai. During the holy month, people came out daily to fill their neighbourhood fridges for people in need to come and take as they please.

With over 25,000 Facebook followers and national media attention, the Ramadan project is gaining momentum year on year.

NOTE: This following initiative is not officially connected with the Ramadan Sharing Fridges, however the idea remains the same…

Introducing: ‘The Giving Fridge’

A resident got in touch with Lovin Dubai to tell us about the project

“The idea is so thoughtful and it was successful throughout this month. So what if that fridge can live longer than the Ramadan month? And it becomes part of the Year of Giving?

That’s How The Giving Fridge is born.
The Giving fridge invites people to contribute in order to serve the nation.
The fridge is located at the OSN building No. 2 in Dubai Media City. You can contribute anything you would have that you wouldn’t mind sharing or donating In that spirit, let’s come together to help feed the less fortunate. An easy way to give back to the community, just place any extra food, snacks and drinks inside. It’s open 24/7.”
