Stunts, Skydives And Scenery – 5 Reasons Dubai Wins International Skyscraper Day
It’s incredible to think that just 20 years ago, Dubai was nothing more than desert. Well, desert and that Toyota building.
Since then, the world’s most vibrant and bustling metropolis has arisen from the sand, causing the mediocre skylines of other cities to pale in comparison and bringing some of the world’s most forward-thinking designers and architects to the Middle East (check out this epic video if you don’t believe us).
As the saying goes: “if you build it, they will come.” And that’s exactly what’s happened in the ensuing years. Without further ado, here are our five favourite things about Dubai’s city skyscrapers.
1. The city was built from nothing – and we mean nothing
Seriously, one day Dubai looked like this…
And then, suddenly, this…
Ok, there may have been some construction in between.
2. We’ve seen some epic skyscraper skydives
Mainly thanks to our friends over at Skydive Dubai.
3. There have been some crazy unauthorised stunts
Like this guy “skywalking” around the perimeter of a Marina high-rise…
Nope.
And these guys snapping some skyscraper selfies.
Seriously, nope.
Even this guy, going on a POV journey to the edge of a crane.
I don’t think we need to say nope again, do we?
4. In the morning, it looks like our city is in the clouds
And it’s pretty breathtaking.
5. We see it everyday, but, come on, Burj Khalifa is pretty cool
Just look at it.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Dubai’s skyscrapers – no doubt they’ll only get bigger and better.
