Khalid Al Ameri Credits Sultan Al Qassemi For Being An Inspiration In This Touching Twitter Thread
A recent tweet from prominent UAE commentator Sultan Al-Qassemi drew a touching response.
The New York uni educated and Yale University ‘World Fellow 2018’ recipient is currently working on a presentation for the prestigious university, in it he wondered what he had done, ‘tried to do and failed to do in order to contribute to a “good society.”
And the touching response on his Twitter feed from so many was his answer
I am working on a presentation for Yale on what I did, and tried to do and failed to do in order to contribute to a “good society.” Going over old articles, it’s making me quite nostalgic (also I *had* guts. Who was that guy?!)

Popular Emirati vlogger and motivational speaker Khalid AlAmeri was quick to jump in
Sultan ‘paved the way for us to do the work we do’
I’ve followed you since you blogged on the “Sultan’s Notes” and believe me you opened up a world to so many of us Sultan and paved the way for us to do the work we do, writers, creatives, journalists to name a few and I will always be grateful to you for that.

You are still contributing to society
you still do. & if you choose not to revive him, you’ve left little remnants of inspiration in most of your nephews and nieces. in a way, you still *are* contributing to society.

This user credits Al-Qassemi for publicising the Khaleeji art scene
Who said you failed? If it wasn’t for your efforts many of us – myself included – would not have known about the khaleeji art scene and development. You did well.

And engaging young people across the region to speak up
The guy who encouraged thousands and thousands of people to think, to speak up. Especially Young people who were too lost to understand what was happening in the world.

Al- Qassemi took a 12-month break from Twitter in 2017
Disappearing from the social media site with no explanation to his over 500k followers, his absence was noted. However, Twitter rejoiced when he reappeared in July.
If you go dark online for a year and a large cohort of people recognize your absence, I would say what you tried to do was pretty darn effective.
