Thursday, We Could Kiss You – 5 Things To Tick Off Your List This Weekend
It’s been too long, Thursday.
You did it. The week is oh-so-nearly at an end and you’ve made it to the weekend. So, what now? As always, we’ve put together a list of Dubai’s coolest, quirkiest happenings (and offered some alternative ideas) for this Friday and Saturday, so you don’t have to think about it.
Heed our advice and by Sunday you’ll be feeling a little more loved up, a bit fitter (or fatter) and all clubbed out… oh, you’ll also be a gaming expert. Of course.
1. Go on a romantic dinner date to Salero Tapas & Bodega
It may not be Valentine’s Day, but there’s never a bad time to head over to Salero Tapas & Bodega for a spot of romance. Offering the best tapas we’ve tried outside of Barcelona, this quirky MoE restaurant is a guaranteed first-date winner. Plus, if things get awkward, the Friday brunch offers unlimited sangria to drown your sorrows. Win, win.
2. Do a serious workout at Fit Republik… and ruin it all with a slice of cheesecake at Nathalie's
It’s the weekend and you’re ready to feel the burn, right? Right! Forget the Friday lie in; it’s time to lunge, jump and weightlift the stress of your working week away at Fit Republik. Or… you could just wake up at midday and head to adjoining Nathalie’s Café for a spot of leisurely lunch (like we did last weekend). We won’t judge.
3. Pull on an apron and bake some delicious, moist Aussie Lamington cake
You’ve been busy all week, and now you deserve cake. Luckily, we’ve got just the recipe for you. Aussie readers will know what we’re talking about when we say Lamington Cake, and now it’s time for the rest of the world to get wise. Soft, moist sponge smothered in chocolate icing and coconut shavings – need we say more?
4. Get fist pumping at superstar DJ Bob Sinclair’s Cavalli Club headline set
Time to party. Taking to the stage at Cavalli Club tonight, world-renowned disc jockey Bob Sinclair will be mixing massive tunes and spinning big records in front of a toe-tapping, fist-pumping Thursday night crowd. Don’t forget your dancing shoes and glow sticks.
5. Stop messing around and do some serious gaming at Games 15
If you’re rarely seen without a console controller in hand,
this is probably the ultimate weekend event for you. Taking place in Dubai
International Marine Club from today until 12th September, it’s the
biggest eSports event in the Middle East and promises to be chock-a-block full
of new game launches, demos and competitions. Oh, and wrestler Daniel Bryan will be there. Obviously.
