The UAE’s New Federal Council Is Now The Perfect Example Of Gender Equality
On November 14, 2019, the Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed, celebrated the opening of the 17th term of the Federal National Council.
This is truly one of the most iconic moments for the country because, for the first time, the council has an equal number of men and women members.
HH Sheikh Mohammed shares in a tweet that the main goal is to work as a team and prioritize the service of the nation
وفقكم الله لخدمة البلاد والعباد .. pic.twitter.com/BHceLNyQlq

The occasion was a celebration for the nation and drums were played by the military band
Last year, the UAE President, HH Sheikh Khalifa passed orders to appoint women to make up 50% of the council which has happened this time around. There are 40 members in the council and 50% of them are women.
The ceremony took place at the FNC at Abu Dhabi, where rulers of different emirates were present.
It started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by HH Sheikh Mohammed and then the council’s speech was presented by veteran FNC member.
