The weather is tittering on the precipice of ‘cool’ and evenings and weekends spent entirely outdoors are longggg overdue.

Fortunately, months of gloriously cool temperatures loom where we’ll eagerly try and claim the title as ‘world’s fittest city’. Running tracks, cricket pitches, beaches and gyms are all about to get a whole lot busier and if you’re making the most of the weather, there are plenty of sporting events to motivate you to go the extra mile in your training.

11. Dubai Fitness Challenge – 18 October to 16 November

Join a citywide challenge to get active for 30 minutes for 30 days straight. With tonnes of free fitness classes and events happening throughout the month, you’ve no excuse to skip this!

10. King & Queen Swim at The Point: October 25

Join a swim in the protected waters at The Pointe, Palm Jumeirah. Choose:1 Mile / 1/2 Mile / 1/4 Mile.

8 years and up are all welcome and on the day the winners will be crowned King and Queen of the Pointe.

9. Dubai Festival City Marathon: November 1

Start prepping now for one of Dubai’s favourite half-marathons! Located at Dubai Festival City, runners can choose 1km, (kids distance) 5km, 10km or 21.2 km and take on one of the city’s most memorable routes.

8. Tri Fest: November 8

Trifest is back, but it’s got a new location. Prepare to swim, cycle and run your way to the finish line in either the Super Sprint, Sprint or Olympic distance.

The Super Sprint is great for first-times, with a run (2.5km) cycle (1okm) and swim (375m) a distance to test your tri legs for the first time.

7. Palm Run: November 22

The Palm run is open to all abilities with distances from: 1km, 3km, 5km, 10km and 21.1km. The route takes you along the world-famous Palm Jumeirah. Check out Race Me for pre-race training programmes and get your bookins in now.

6. JLL Series Triathlon:  December 7

Back for its 7th year, JLL series is located at Jebel Ali Resort and is a favourite for triathletes in Dubai.

Choose either Sprint and Super-Sprint Distance and swim, bike and run your way to the finish line, before a huge brekkie at the resort that you totalllly deserve.

5. Mile Relay: January 20

Brush the cob-webs off in the new year at the Mile Run at The Pointe is a team race.

Teams of 3 to 5 people will compete in all male, all female or mixed categories for first place in age groups over a one-mile course. Every team member must complete at least one mile.

4. The 10km Dubai Canal Run: February 28

This is a favourite route for runners in Dubai after the race launched successfully last year. Choose 1km, 5km, 10km or 21.1km and watch the sunrise beyond the Dubai skyline during this refreshing run.

3.The Dubai Festival City Santa Run

This IS as fun as it sounds.

Get into the festive spirit by donning a Santa suit and running 5km or 10km. This run is massive in other cities and it’s a PERFECT pre-Chrimbo activity, say adios to some calories in preparation for your turkey feasting with this fun-spirited run.

2. City Half Marathon: October 25

The first ever half-marathon taking place is in the heart of Dubai is looming! Mai Dubai City Marathon takes racers through Dubai’s financial district, and you can choose to take part in the classic 5km, flat and fast 10km, or the 21km challenge. GO!

1. Spinneys Dubai 92: November 19

Spinneys Dubai 92 has rolled around once more and cyclists citywide are gearing up to take part in the famous cycling event (all puns intended).

With build-up rides between now and the main event, you’re got plenty of time to get your training in for this 92km challenge.
