Sharjah sometimes feels so close to Dubai, but so far. Given the notoriously bad traffic, sometimes Dubai residents write off the emirate.

1. For Love Of Art: Sharjah Art Museum

Known to be the cultural capital of the UAE, Sharjah in home to 18 museums at the Sharjah Art Foundation.

Head to this emirate and you’ll find that its full to the brim, with all things arty and the best from the region’s leading artists is exhibited at the Sharjah Art Museum. 

Paintings, sculptures and instillations fill three floors, where visitors can explore creativity new and old, regional and international.

2. A Creative Oasis: Noor Island

A fusion of nature, entertainment and art, this first of its kind island is located in the Khalid lagoon near the Buhaira Corniche. 

A perfect place for relaxation, art encouragement and sparking creativity, the island has many attractions that include the Butterfly House with over 500 exotic butterflies from the East Asia Region, a café to unwind and a literature pavilion for book lovers.

3. A Step Back In Time: Mleiha Archaeological Centre (Mleiha Desert)
