Open Plea To Roger Federer: PLEASE Come To Dubai For The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships
Roger Federer is everywhere in international media right now.
He just won the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam, two days after overtaking Rafael Nadal to become World No 1 for the first time since 2012.
It’s been a huge week for the tennis legend, but the question on everyone’s lips is whether he’ll join the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships happening right now at the Dubai Tennis Stadium at the Irish Village.
The rumours are flying
There’s talk of the 36-year-old star making a late entry to the men’s championships which begins next week.
Salah Tahlak, tournament director of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, told Khaleej Times that the chances of him making an appearance are 50/50.
He has won the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships SEVEN times, he trains here and apparently has an apartment in Dubai Marina. The Rotterdam tournament was a calculated decision to take the World No 1 slot, so whether he’ll try to capitalise on his win by coming to Dubai, (this year only two of the two 20 seeded men’s players are coming) where a win would mean holding his position for quite a bit longer, or take a break is anyone’s guess.
