A Dubai Based Chef Has Turned Her Youtube Videos Into A Foodie Empire

Entrepreneur, culinary wizard and all around boss lady Alia Adi is taking the Youtube world by storm. From her kitchen meets film set, Adi takes to her Youtube channel to create everything from Middle Eastern goodies to the comforts of brownies and ice cream. Adi founded founded Basmaty World, an Arabic-language cooking channel that has generated 1 million views on Youtube per month. And that’s without mentioning the 300,000+ followers on her Facebook page.

From a cook to a mogul

Alongside Dubai-based success stories Careem and souq.com, Adi is taking her place as a business empress. She originally started her business in 2011 in her hometown of Damascus with a team of videographers and Syrian chefs until the war erupted and she was forced to learn how to do it all on her own.

As I was searching for recipes in Arabic, I saw that there was a gap, there was not much out there, so the idea emerged this way, “she said. “I decided why don’t I do a website that provides reliable and high-quality recipes in Arabic to serve the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.”
