Mainstream cafe chains can get a little crowded, loud and just not a spot for one to enjoy their cuppa. Based on people’s reviews, we’ve gathered a list of cafes with “chill vibes” for you to enjoy alone or with a study buddy.

Writer’s block? Feeling stressed? Want your coffee and book reading fix in a secluded yet fantastic spot; we got you covered with these six calming cafes in Dubai:

1. Shakespeare and Co, Souk Al Bahar

The vintage theme, the AED15 latte that comes with a complimentary macaroon and your pen/ paper is all you need. Be inspired by the decor and serene stillness of this cafe, especially in Souk Al Bahar.

2. Art House Cafe, Al Wasl Road

Books, edgy interiors, an eccentric exterior with just an adequate amount of sun. Have your karak, be inspired by words from the books and free write away.

3. The Espresso Lab, Jumeirah 1

The best spot in Jumeirah to get away from everyone and just relish in its calmest atmosphere.

4. Kuttab Cafe, Uptown Mirdiff

They’ve got books you can read both Arabic and English from different publishing houses. It’s been well-known for book lovers and writers alike. The place is so different from the rest because it encourages the culture of the UAE in the most engaging way.

A lot of people swear by this being a good place to study. Don’t believe us, see the comments on Foursquare here for yourself:

5. XVA Gallery Cafe, Bastakiya

Open from 7am-10pm, this cafe is for the art lovers, and admirers of the ‘old Dubai feel’ in general. It’s open air, kept cool with air conditioning, a perfect spot for Instagram shots.

6. Piccolo Mondo Bay

Quiet, dark and the sheesha’s great too. Just pick a couch, lounge for hours with friends and study those assessments off.

They’ve got one of the most peculiar yet stunning interior designs for a cafe out here.
