7 Reasons To Use The GuavaPass Fitness App If You’re Not Already On It

Avatar

Workouts in Dubai are ridiculously expensive. Fact. You’re lucky if you can find a class that costs under AED 80, and if you want to actually see an improvement in your fitness, that means you’ll be saying goodbye to a lot of AED 80’s.

That’s where GuavaPass steps in…

How it works:

GuavaPass is an app that gives you access to an unlimited number of classes in gyms around Dubai.

There are easily over 100 classes available per day covering all locations in Dubai and all forms of fitness including Pilates, Yoga, CrossFit, indoor cycling, gymnastics, Zumba, martial arts, boxing, pole, dance, mom & baby classes, outdoor and many more.

The only limitation is you can only visit the same gym three times in one month.

What I didn’t like:

I don’t drive and live in Al Barsha, where the options are limited and it meant a lot of taxis. But if you live in JLT, Marina, Al Quoz or Downtown you’ll have lots of options within a close distance.

Want AED 150 off your first month?

A month’s membership costs AED 449 but the sound people over at GuavaPass have given a discount code for Lovin Dubai readers, just type guavalovindubai for a discount on your first month.

Here’s a look at seven great classes you can check out:

1. BIT Cardio at Round 10 Boxing Club

This class is a great mix of cardio, circuits and boxing. The class I attended had five people, and hats off to our very motivational trainer, our little group needed a serious push to finish the circuits and our energetic trainer did the job. Finishing off the class using gloves and punching bags was a great stress reliever.

Where? 8th Street Al Quoz

2. Circuit Training at Strong Ladies Physical Fitness Gym

An all ladies gym, this place has a nice open space with a pretty pink design. There were five of us in the circuit class, all with varying levels of fitness but the instructor got us through the session at a similar enough pace. Probably the least intimidating spot to enter, this one is nice for gym newbies.

Important info: Metafit class. Sorry boys, this one is ladies only.

Where? Al Quoz, the same building as Tom & Serg

3. Indoor Cycling at Bespoke Ride by FAST

There aren’t a huge number of cycling classes on the pass; but this one is for ‘real’ cyclists. Using actual road bikes where you control the gears (unlike spinning bikes where you just twist a lever), your bike is connected to a big screen which has set routes saved, so you can complete the 50km Al Qudra course from the comfort of a gym…This is a great prep class for real road riding.

Where? Al Marabea Road
Al Quoz

4. Indoor Cycling at Surge Body Fitness

Like Spinning classes? This is hands down the best one I’ve tried in Dubai. A small studio with just one spinning room, the design is slick with graffiti covered walls and the coolest and best equipped bathrooms I’ve come across. Depending on the trainer the workouts varied but the atmosphere was the same, and the 45 minute classes flew by.

Where? Concord Tower, Al Sufouh road

5. Full academy Pilates at Pilates Academy

If you’ve never tried Pilates before class is a great intro. There are maximum three people in a class so you’ll get a lot of one-and-one time with the instructor – when I visited it was just me in the class! The machines look scary but your instructor will tell you all. They also have a great cardiolates class here – that’s a mix of cardio and Pilates so anyone who needs a little help.

Where? JLT, Cluster X, Jumeirah Bay X2 Tower

6. Bikram at Voyoga (hour class)

I took a Saturday morning Bikram class here. There were only two of us in the class so our incredibly welcoming instructor Victoria talked us through each movement and worked on correcting our posture and poses. This gym focuses on journey and self-improvement and the beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows is the perfect environment to begin your Yoga journey.

Where? I-Rise Tower 31st Floor, Barsha Heights

7. Bikram Yoga (90 minutes) at Bikram Yoga Middle East

Despite being a full class, there was a silence rule as soon as you entered the room which everyone observed and lead to a very calming experience. The instructor gave clear instructions and paid extra-attention to newbies and their movements. Before and after the class the lights stayed off; an evening class here is a brilliant way to de-stress after a long days work.

Where? Icon Tower, 4th floor, Office 403, Barsha Heights
