Popular UAE singer Hussain Al Jassmi, who made history by becoming the first Arab artist to perform at the Vatican's annual Christmas concert, is all set to perform at the opening ceremony of AFC Asian Cup today.

He, along with another Emirati artist Eida Al Menhali and Yemeni-Emirati singer Balqees Fathi, will take the stage before the opening match between the host UAE and Bahrain.

Plenty of entertaining acts have been planned for the ceremony that will start at 7.30pm, including live performances such as drummers, Ayalla dancers and origami falcons.

In fact as many as 600 expert performers have been called from UAE and around the world to participate in this extravaganza.

It's going to be one cracker of an opening ceremony

This is the second time the UAE has hosted the Asian Cup, the first one was back in 1996

51 matches will be held in eight stadiums around four host cities from January 5 to Feb 1
