A Woman Who Complained About Period Pains Was Forced To Leave An Emirates Flight
A woman on a flight bound for Dubai was asked to leave the airplane after staff overheard her complain about period pains.
Beth Evans, a 24-year-old teaching assistant from the UK was flying from Birmingham to Dubai when Emirates staff noticed she was in difficulty.
Shortly before takeoff, the crew made the decision to ask Beth, who was travelling with her partner, to leave the flight.
She had described her pain as “one out of ten” according to international reports and felt able to endure the seven hour flight, however without a doctor present to make a decision, the airline couldn’t take the risk of carrying the woman on the lengthy flight.
Emirates said in a statement that safety of passengers and crew is paramount importance and they did not wish to endanger Ms Evans by delaying medical help if her condition worsened.
Emirates commented…
“We can confirm that Ms Beth Evans was offloaded from flight EK40 on Saturday 17th February due to a medical emergency. The passenger alerted the crew onboard that she was suffering from discomfort and pain and mentioned that she was feeling unwell. The captain made the decision to request medical support and offload Ms Evans so she could access medical assistance as needed. The safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance and we would not have wanted to endanger Ms Evans by delaying medical help had she worsened during the seven hour flight to Dubai. We hope Ms Evans felt better soon and look forward to welcoming her onboard again soon.” –
