Why Byblos Is The One Place That You Need To Visit This Year

Avatar

With Lebanon only a short four-hour flight from Dubai, it’s a hot destination for many UAE residents, whether for a few days or longer.

Lebanon offers a huge variety of seasonal activities – there’s surfing, skiing (obviously at different times of year), beautiful lush greenery and mountainous terrain, sprawling sea views and epic shopping.

Beirut is known for its parties and fashion…and of course Lebanese food.

But just a short drive away is the one of the world’s oldest villages, Byblos.

Getting there

A relatively easy day-trip from Beirut, Byblos is between 45 minutes to two hours’ drive from Beirut (depending on traffic) and is quite a cheap adventure.

The best method of transport is to book an Uber – as it’s around USD30 (AED110) each way.

About Byblos

Byblos is a UNESCO site, and is considered one of the oldest villages in the world, also called Jubayl.

The seaside town is built around a small harbour, and is believed to have been occupied since roughly 7000BC.

The town is home to just 40,000 people and still houses a fair amount of structures from it’s lifetime.

Where to go

The main tourism attraction, is Byblos Castle. The ancient ruins offer an insight into the region’s history, as well as showcasing breathtaking views of the town’s skyline.

You can meander through the grounds, learning about the history of the castle and seeing the ampitheatre, the columns, the old houses and staff quarters.

It’s beautiful and serene.

Plus you can go on the rooftop and get some absolutely breathtaking photos of the views

Byblos Views

From the castle, it’s a short walk to the shoreline, where sprawling ocean views attract tourists and plenty of photoshoots.

The harbour houses several popular seafood restaurants which all take advantage of the uninterrupted sea scape.

Byblos Boats

Byblos will give you a cultural injection and makes for some of the most beautiful photos you’ll get to snap.

And flights to Lebanon are quite cheap – so why not?
