400k Residents Enrol In DEWA’s ‘Sustainable Living Programme’ Aiming To Make Dubai A City With The Lowest Carbon Footprint

Dubai’s never-ending itch to strive and be the best is not just within the infrastructure or tourism realms but also includes sustainable development and living.

More than 400,000 Dubai residential expats have in Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s ‘My Sustainable Living Programme’, that aims to encourage residents to adopt a more eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle.

The initiative which was launched back in 2018 will provide customers with an integrated conservation plan to significantly reduce their water, electricity consumption and carbon footprint.

Dubai is working its way up to achieving sustainable development in all aspects and becoming a city “with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050…”

As mentioned by H.E. Saeed Mohammed Ahmed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA. Al Tayer further added,

“We work in line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve sustainable development in all aspects, and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, to make Dubai the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world by 2050. We strive to enhance consumer behaviour, in line with the Demand Side Management Strategy to reduce the demand for electricity and water by 30% in 2030.”
