Oopsie daisiess, if you race your car around the streets of Dubai like a character out of the Fast and Furious movies, then now would be a really good time to get on track and accede to the legal speed limits. Because the Dubai po-po have their eyes on all the reckless drivers out there. *Tsk tsk.
Reckless motorists can seriously endanger the lives of other drivers on the road. Thus, the Dubai police took severe legal actions towards motorists, whose actions endangered others by turning the streets into their drifting playground.
The 50 impounded vehicles were confiscated by the police post their regular patrolling around town.
The penalties have intensified BIG TIME for reckless drivers! Fines will now range up to AED12k
Motorists will have to pay a hefty fine of AED12,000 and will also be fined 23 black points as well as have their vehicle impounded for 60 days, for driving in a way that subjects the driver’s or other people’s lives to danger.
Also, drivers will also face hefty penalties of:
- AEDh12,000 and 12 black points for driving noisy vehicles and for causing disturbances to residents
- Dh10,000, 12 black points and impound of the vehicle for 30 days, for attempting to run away from the traffic cops
So that means no more street racing, drifting, revving or TAILGATING!!
Drivers are urged to comply with the speed limits and other safety measures put in place to avoid causing any unwanted trouble on the road
Also, the police have requested for residents to call on the Dubai Police’s 901 hotline, to report any traffic violation around town.
