A 6-Year-Old Girl Died Of Suffocation After Being Locked In A Car For Hours
A six-year-old Emirati girl has died of suffocation after she was locked in a car for six hours.
The Abu Dhabi Police said the girl died after the parents forgot she was in the car.
Police warned parents against leaving children in cars – regardless of whether it’s for a few minutes or with the air-conditioning on.
No further details have been released.
According to Seattle Children’s org, it is dangerous to leave your kids in the car for various reasons:
1. “A child’s body can heat up to 3-5 times faster than an adult’s body”
2. “The temperature inside a car can increase 20 degrees in just 10 minutes and 40 degrees in an hour. It doesn’t have to feel hot outside to be dangerous inside a car. Deaths have happened when it’s just above 70 degrees F (Fahrenheit) outside. Leaving the windows open slightly does not prevent the temperature from rising to a dangerous level.”
3. Other accidents may occur, such as: children starting the car and getting into an accident, being trapped in a trunk or potentially getting kidnapped.
