A Cyber Hacking Group Has Claimed Responsibility For Skype Outage
Even though Skype reported on their website that it has been blocked in the UAE, it may be related to a hacking incident that affected other countries in the past week.
The service has also been disrupted in Singapore, India, Pakistan and South Africa.
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority most recently issued a statement on the matter last week. Skype previously had a license to operate in the UAE so it would be unusual for that to have changed.
“(We are) aware of an incident where users will either lose connectivity to the application or may be unable to send or receive messages.”
