New UAE Laws Are Making It Illegal To Abandon Pets And Animal Lovers Are Celebrating

New legislation has just made it illegal to abandon animals in the UAE, alone with other requirements of animal owners to protect the animals’ wellbeing.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment issued new regulations regarding the federal law number 16 of 2007, and amendments of federal law number 18 of 2016.

The laws state that should an owner be unable to care for a pet any longer they must hand them over to authorities, rather than just leave them.

Any owner neglecting their animal can be punished by law

Including offences of failing to provide adequate food and water, rest and shelter, harming it or keeping it confined.
