Apple Warns UAE Customers: The New iPhone X You’re Buying Might Be A Scam

The emotional roller coaster of shelling out over AED4,000 for the new iPhoneX to find that you’ve been scammed is not even worth thinking about.

But a warning on the Apple UAE website to customers over a ‘string of scams’ relating to iTunes Gift Cards purchases among others is worth taking note of.

Apple is warning any customers using iTunes Gift cards to purchase; it could be scam.

The scam follows a similar pattern

“Regardless of the reason for payment, the scam follows a certain formula: The victim receives a call instilling panic and urgency to make a payment by purchasing iTunes Gift Cards from the nearest retailer (convenience store, electronics retailer, etc.). After the cards have been purchased, the victim is asked to pay by sharing the 16-digit code on the back of the card with the caller over the phone.”

Gift cards should ONLY be used to purchase goods and services on the iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, or for an Apple Music membership
