Police Seized 27kg Of Artificial Gold Being Sold As the Real Deal On The Streets Of The UAE

The Abu Dhabi Police seized 27kg of counterfeit gold jewellery labelled as genuine product.

The gold was labelled with international brand markings at a commercial market in Abu Dhabi according to a Wam.ae.

In total, 26 stores were involved in the fraud.

The police were working on a tip off from an agent of a highly regarded global brand who suspected the stores were selling counterfeit goods.

The police raided each store with suspected involvement

The suspects, along with the seized goods have been referred to the public prosecutor.

Brigadier Dr. Rashid Mohammad Borshid, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, CID urged consumers to report anything suspicious and to ensure the products being sold are being sold legally.

The CID has also called on representatives of trademarked companies to immediately report any infringements on copyright.
