The Emirati Who Used A Dud Cheque To Purchase An AED 31 Million Numberplate Will Spend Three Years Behind Bars

Six months ago, we reported that the man who tried to use a dud cheque for AED 31 million to purchase a license plate was detained, and now the man has been jailed for three years.

At an auction at Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi last year, the Emirati man wrote a cheque for AED 31 million for the number ‘1’ number plate. 

The man didn’t have the balance in his account 

At the time the 32-year old was detained over charges of fraud and issuing a bounced cheque. The man has since admitted he was aware the funds were not in his account, he had planned to resell the number plate in order to make a profit.
