Confirmed: This Is Why The Famous Burj Khalifa New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show Is Being Replaced By A Laser Show

Avatar

This month, it was revealed the Burj Khalifa New Year’s Eve fireworks show would be no more, to be replaced by a laser show.

‘Light up 2018’ is expected to break a world record for the world’s largest ever laser show and it’s happening on New Year’s Eve at the Burj Khalifa.

Now, Brigidaire Abdullah Ali Al Ghaith, Director of the General Department of Organisations, Protective security and Emergency, told Gulf News why…

“Lasers are safer than fireworks. The New Year’s Eve lasers have been placed all over Dubai. The aim is to facilitate all simple traffic and ensure flow.”

Spectators are advised to arrive to the area BEFORE 6pm

Emergency service efforts will be heightened on the day

In recent years, 1.5 MILLION people have attended the New Year’s Eve event, and safety is the first and foremost concern of emergency service operations. Extra ambulances in and around the world’s tallest building and Dubai Mall will be on hand.

Additional parking and free shuttle service

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will provide free shuttle buses and additional parking spaces, however roads in the area will close from 8pm so do not depend on taxis from that point.

The shuttle buses will be in operation from Zabeel Park, Al Wasl Club, Dubai World Trade Centre and more. They will take you to and from Dubai Mall.

Some roads will close for general traffic

(But will remain open for public buses)

Between 5pm and 8pm, there will be closures at Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard and Financial Centre Street and vehicles on Emaar Boulevard will be rerouted at various points throughout the day.

Al Asayel road will be purely for emergency services from 4pm onwards

And you can watch the entire show on live stream
