Any entity found trading with the incorrect economic licences or visas will be slapped with an AED50,000 fine, according to the Department of Economic Development, in Abu Dhabi.

Violators will be blacklisted, with residence permits cancelled, and additional penalties including the AED50,000 fine.

Currently, 100 businesses have come under scrutiny, with relevant parties being interrogated by an allocated DED task force.

Acting Undersecretary of the DED, Khalifa bin Salim Al Mansouri says:

“A joint taskforce has been formed and led by DED with the participation of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation as well as the General Directorate of Residence and Foreigners Affairs to uncover such practices and ensure legal framework for all residents in the country.”
