Confusion Over A New ‘AED100 Fine For Late DEWA Payments’ Has Been Cleared Up

Avatar

Rumours have been circulating regarding DEWA late fees and the introduction of a new AED100 charge.

And on Tuesday the Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) made an announcement via their social media networks to clear confusion.

An AED100 will be automatically charged to accounts that miss payment deadlines (after a grace period), however this is not new information.

Previously, the AED100 was charged as a reconnection fee, charged to reconnect accounts which were terminated following missed payments.

Your have four days to make payments

You will be alerted via email or text message twenty days before your bill is due. After due date, you then have a four day grace period to pay your DEWA bill, after which an AED100 charge will automatically be applied to your account.

If you don’t pay the AED100, your service will be disconnected (with no extra fees charged if you choose to reconnect the service).
