Dubai Is Revolutionising Public Transport With These Futuristic Driverless Vehicles

Avatar

Dubai Government has not been shy about its aim to raise the amount of autonomous public transport to 25% by 2030.

And this is one great step along the way.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a 1,250m track – phase four of thus far successful trials of the autonomous vehicles under Dubai’s particularly harsh climate conditions. You’ll find these slick looking wheels within Sustainable City at Dubailand, Al-Qudra Road.

Each vehicle can fit eight passengers and travels on short distances on pre-programmed routes

The vehicles are 100% environment-friendly and the powerful batteries mean they can operate for eight hours

The vehicles can be easily configured to make abrupt changes if needed and are kitted out with sensors and smart monitoring systems to avoid collisions, according to a Dubai Media Office report.

They ride on virtual tracks at speeds of up to 20kmph
