Dubai Broke Its Record For Tourism In 2016
Dubai received the most ever overnight visitors in 2016, according to government statistics.
Nearly 15 million visitors came to the city and stayed overnight; a 5% increase from 2015.
“With our international overnight traffic reaching 14.9 million, Dubai has cemented its ranking as the fourth most visited city in the world.”
His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General, Dubai Tourism
The city hosted 14.9 million visitors throughout 2016, according to The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).
The DTCM credits the growth, despite global downturns, to the addition of attractions in the city including the openings of Dubai Opera, IMG Worlds of Adventure, Dubai Parks and Resorts, new hotels such as Palazzo Versace and The W Hotel, as well as significant international marketing campaigns, and the new visas on arrival policies for China and Russia.
It’s good news, as the numbers are on the way to the Dubai goal of 20 million visitors by 2020.
