Dubai Is Officially One Of The Fastest Growing Cities In The World
We live in a constantly changing city, filled with an endless supply of new building developments, and continuous expansion and where it’s nigh-on impossible to keep up what’s going.
Which is why we’re surprised Dubai didn’t rank a little higher on this scale (although, of course we’re a tad biased)
Of the 134 cities rated, Dubai was ranked 11th
According to an annual City Momentum Index (JLL’s CMI) 2017, which looks at fast-change cities around the globe, taking the economy and commercial real estate prices into account and measures everything from population, connectivity, technology, research & development, education, construction and real estate investment…This is a big step up for Dubai, from not placing in the top 20 last year.
Dubai ranked 11th after Nairobi (10th) Africa’s highest ranking position.
“Covering 120 major established and emerging business hubs across the globe, the Index measures a city’s short-term socio-economic and commercial real estate momentum (over a three-year horizon) in combination with measures of ‘future-proofing’ – whether a city has the essential ingredients to ensure longer-term sustainable momentum.”

The top 5:
Bangalore topped the list, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, Silicon Valley, Shanghai and Hyderabad. Interestingly, only one city in the West made the top 5.
