Dubai has revealed on Monday in a tweet that the ‘Hope Probe’ mission to Mars will benefit more than 200 scientific institutions globally by providing data.

The probe is set to start its journey in 2020 and is planned to arrive to Mars the following year 2021, just in time for the celebration of UAE’s 50th anniversary as a union.

Director General of UAE Space Agency, Dr. Mohammed Al Ahbabi said on his twitter account, “The UAE space sector is advancing at a blistering pace, thanks to our leadership’s steadfast support of our National Space Programme.”

An Emirati team will plan, manage and implement the probe project by applying their collected skills and patience to this ‘Hope Probe’ project. The project is supervised by the UAE Space Agency, however the probe is being developed by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), in alliance with international partners.

The ‘Hope Probe’ will gather and bring back more than 1000 gigabytes of New Mars data back to Earth. This information will then be received by the Science Data Centre (UAE) which will be extended around the world.
