Starting from December, a new generation of number plates will be released in Dubai.

The first lot will be available to purchase at an auction taking place at the Westin Hotel in Habtoor City, on Saturday December 9, according to HE Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

No doubt they won’t come cheap, but if you’re a fan of exclusive number plates, the following will be up for grabs;

Code AA: 7, 10, 12, 100, 333, 786, 1000, 8888, 77777 and 55555

What it means

The new number plates are easy to ready from a distance.

They include the word Dubai , a number and a code.

The RTA will start replacing existing vehicles gradually from February 2018; and if you want to update your own plate you can at a small cost.

Replacing your plate for a new black one will cost AED35 for short plates and AED50 for long plates

Picking the colourful option will set you back AED400

“This new initiative underlines RTA’s keenness to satisfy the needs of customers aspiring to own distinctive number plates, especially as the stock of single-code distinctive plates is about to be exhausted”

HE Mattar Al Tayer
