Dubai Police Have Foiled A Huge International Heroin Smuggling Operation
Dubai Police have busted a huge international drugs ring and seized 20kg of heroin.
The drugs were smuggled into the UAE via commercial ships in an operation that had been planned for almost four months.
Five people were apprehended including a European, an African, and three Asians from nearby countries. They arrived into the country separately and found accommodation in different locations which ‘reflects their high skills in deception and experience in smuggling and organized crime’ according to the force’s Commander-in-chief, HE Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri.
An undercover police officer foiled part of the operation
An undercover officer purchased 2,200 grams of heroin. The seller was caught in the act. Another suspect was apprehended in similar circumstances while three more were arrested for their criminal involvement in the role.
The men have been referred to local authorities for punishment after they each confessed to their crimes.
