Dubai Police Just Released The Cause Of The Torch Tower Fire In Dubai Marina

Earlier this month the Torch Tower, Dubai Marina went up in flames.

Hundreds were evacuated, 38 flats were damaged and fortunately due to the quick action of Dubai Civil Defence, the were no serious injuries reported.

On Tuesday, Dubai Police released the cause of the fire: 

The fire started after a burning cigarette was thrown from an upper floor and landed in a pot plant in a balcony below according to Major-General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of the Dubai Police via a report in the Khaleej Times.

According to the report, the police confirmed the investigation by staging a similar fire experiment at their head quarters.
