A Homegrown Dubai Startup Reached The Global Twitter Finals And We Couldn’t Be More Proud

We’re proud when anything from Dubai is recognised on a global stage, so when Twitter called up a home grown Dubai start up…well we were like like proud parents when we heard.

$250k cash prize up for grabs for the winners

Brndstr, which was established in July 2013 and has raised over $2 million since, is run by founder Simon Hudson and employees 14 who aim at working towards brand alliances across a number of countries.

Simon, along with 11 other finalists, flew to Twitter HQ in San Francisco to face a panel of Twitter Exec’s.

“Twitter wants to find companies around the globe who use it’s Ads API to innovate and develop new technologies for the platform”

And so they formed a competition called #Promote to do so. Of over 500 applicants, impressively Brndstr was one of 12 finalists.

“Brndstr has been working closely with Twitter for the past 2 years and to be invited and be on the same playing field as the world’s best was an honor”.

Unfortunately Brndstr didn’t take home the top prize

However, it will celebrate it’s third birthday next month and is showing no signs of slowing down…with Hudson explaining that the company is working on a number of new projects and we should expect some very ‘cool’ innovations in Q4.

“There has been a huge spike in the number of startups forming in Dubai over the past few years and with successes such as Brndstr, it gives the city and eco-system confidence that Dubai is becoming a global player and a force to be reckoned with”‘
